Why Lashes and Brows By Katy

How Long will my results last?

Lash Extensions

Most people book their infills for around 2-3 weeks. At this point you should still have around 50% of your lash extensions.

We make sure we have regular maintenance appointments so we can ensure your lash health is kept a priority. You lose 5 natural lashes per eye per day. THIS IS NORMAL!! This is all part of your natural lash growth cycle and the lash extensions will come off with your lash shedding.

Lash Lift & Tint

This usually lasts around 6-8 weeks. Again  you lose 5 lashes per eye per day as part of your natural lash growth cycle. Your new lashes will grow through untreated in their natural direction and colour.

Semi Permanent Brows

The generic answer for this is 18 months – 2 years before you might want a colour boost on your brows.

They are semi-permanent and fade over time. You will probably find they haven’t disappeared at that point but they will have faded and you might want a freshen up.

That being said some people feel they fade quicker and want a top up done at 12 months someone else might feel they’re still looking great and will wait 3 years to top them up. It’s really often down to your perception of the fading as your new brows become your new normal.

What are the methods for semi permanent brows?

Hair Strokes

Perhaps the most natural looking method is creating realistic hairstrokes through the brow shape using either a hand held tool (microblade) or using the tattoo machine.

The method used is usually determined by things like skin type, skin health, age. Either method used will result in amazing looking hairstrokes!

Ombre / Powder Brows

This look is where we use the tattoo machine to create a soft “background” colour to your natural brows.

These then heal in a softer powdery look.

Ombre is where we do this method but create gradient shading to lighten the colour at the bulb of the brow and darken it at the tail.

Powder brows is more of a solid colour look.

Combo Brows

This is really the best of both worlds. Mixing the ombre and hairstroke methods to create a blended, fuller looking brow where the hairstrokes are created throughout and then light gradient shading over the top.

Do Lash Extensions Ruin Your Natural Lashes?

Yes, with the wrong lash artist, they absolutely can ruin your natural lashes or if you don’t follow the guidelines given by your lash tech. Otherwise no they will not damage your natural lashes. You need to keep them clean and make sure you are booking your regular maintenance appointments and a good lash tech will ensure:

What Style of Lashes Should I Have?

I have a range of different lash styles, lengths and colours available. We will always discuss what look you’re hoping to achieve and you’re more than welcome to bring in any photos or share ideas of lash styles you want to achieve and we can make that happen.

Every set of lashes is mapped bespoke to you.

For the most natural look I would recommend either a lash lift and tint or classic lashes.

Classic lashes give you the look you wish your mascara gave you.

Hybrid lashes are a softer and lighter volume look mixing individual lashes and lash fans to create more volume.

Volume lashes are all fan lashes, creating a much fuller and dramatic look.

All of these can be adjusted to suit the look you want in terms of how long / thick / fluffy / light you want the set to look. I also have a range of colours available for events, festivals etc. Or just dark brown for a softer every day look.

Can I Get My Lashes & Brows Wet?

YES! Please please please keep your lashes and brows clean.

If you don’t clean your lashes you’re risking getting lash mites in there and you’re going to get infections! Clean them with water, just don’t rub them vigorously to cause damage and risk pulling them out.

With your brows after microblading. You need to keep them clean just don’t rub at them or put product in or on top of the broken skin.

And in both cases just gently pat dry!

Does Microblading Hurt?

You will feel me working on your brows but it will be more of a light scratch and definitely not painful. We use a numbing cream before and during the treatment to ensure you are comfortable throughout.

Will I Get To See My Brow Shape Beforehand?

We will always discuss the look you’re after at the consultation to ensure that we are both confident that we can get the results you’re after.

At the appointment itself, we map out the shape of your new brows before we even think of opening the needles and pigment.

We use my brow mapping skills to look at your bone structure, natural brow positioning, muscle movement etc to create a shape that we can adjust together to create the shape that you are happy with. We do not do anything until you are 100% happy with the shape.

Do I Need A Patch Test

For semi-permanent brows you ALWAYS need a patch test and full consultation.

We are depositing pigment into the skin on your face. Damn right we’re going to check and do an allergy patch test somewhere small and discreet before I do this on your face for the world to see!! It is not worth the risk to you or me.

We also need to discuss any medical history so we can make informed decisions to get you the best healed results.

And also we need to meet each other to make sure we’re a good fit and that you’re confident that I am the right brow tech for you! You need to put a lot of trust in someone to do your semi permanent brows, I’d want to meet that person face to face before that appointment, wouldn’t you?!

How Much Does Semi Permanent Brows Cost?

So let’s cut to the chase with this one.

Hairstrokes are £230

Ombre / Powder £240

Combo £250

These prices cover your consultation appointment, your initial appointment and your top up appointment 4-8 weeks later. Semi permanent brows is a process that takes a couple of months to get to the final results and the pricing covers that initial cost.

You can split the payment over the 2 appointments e.g. £130/£100, if you like or you can pay all up front at the first appointment, whichever is more convenient for you. Sometimes people like to be able to split the cost over 2 different pay cheques and that’s fine by me!

Contraindications

Unfortunately, lash and brow treatments aren’t for everyone. I will always ALWAYS try to accommodate where possible and sometimes a contraindication is not a straight up “no”, it’s a “no for now”. The most important thing is your health and wellbeing. That may sound like a selfless thing for a business to say but actually it is really selfish on my part because at the end of the day, me compromising that results in bad business and bad results by me, bad reviews and negativity I don’t want. I’m going to look after you throughout because I want my business to be a happy, safe and positive place because I want you to come back and I want you to tell your friends about me and I want to use your before and after photos to promote my business! Click HERE to see the list of contraindications for your desired treatment or if you’re worried or want some guidance, drop  me a message via the contact page.
